# # This file contains menu item entries for the applications menu. # The rules for this file are rather strict. Each line in this file may not # be longer than 510 characters. Unpredictable results may follow. A menu # entry has the following colon separated fields: category, title, user(s), # group(s), tty, terminal, schedule, and command. Commented lines begin with # a '#' in the first column; comments are ignored. Note that invalid menu # entries become comments. If a '#' is required in a menu item field, it must # be escaped with the '\' character. To include the escape character '\' in # one of the menu item fields, it must be escaped with a '\' also. If a ':' # is required in a menu item field, it also must be escaped with the '\' # character. An empty field is an error. # # The category field describes the category of command or program a menu # entry belongs in. It can be any string. Menu entries of the same category # are displayed in the user's menu headed by the category. Some categories # might include 'Games', 'Utilities', and 'Communications'. # # The title field describes the menu entry command or program. It can be # any string. # # The user(s) field limits the display of the menu item in the user's # menu to those user's whose login name matches the users in the # user(s) field. The "*" keyword means everyone. If there is more than # one user, each user is separated by a comma. A user may be excluded by # preceding the user name with the '!' character. "*",uucp is redundant. # !jrp, joe, jrp gives permission to joe and jrp only. "*",!jrp gives # permission to all users except jrp. jrp, joe,!jrp gives permission to joe # only. The comma and '!' cannot be escaped by preceeding them with # a '\' character. # # The group(s) field limits the display of the menu item in the user's # menu to those user's whose real group matches the groups in the # group(s) field. The "*" keyword means all groups. If there is more than # one group, each group is separated by a comma. A group may be excluded by # preceding the group name with the '!' character. "*",uucp is redundant. # !others, users, others gives permission to users in both the others and users # groups. "*",!others gives permission to users in all groups except for # those in the others group. others, users,!others gives permission to users # in the users group only. The comma and '!' cannot be escaped by preceeding # them with a '\' character. Note that if a user's name is in the user(s) # field and his group is not in the group(s) field, the menu item will not # appear in his menu. # # The tty(s) field limits the display of the menu item in the user's # menu to those user's whose login tty matches the ttys in the # tty(s) field. The "*" keyword means all ttys. If there is more # than one tty, each tty is separated by a comma. A tty may be excluded by # preceding the tty name with the '!' character. "*",tty01 is redundant. # !tty01,tty02,tty01 gives permission to users logged on both tty01 and # tty02. "*",!tty01 gives permission to users logged on all ttys except for # tty01. tty01,tty02,!tty01 gives permission to users logged on tty02 only. # The comma and '!' cannot be escaped by preceeding them with a '\' character. # # The term(s) field limits the display of the menu item in the user's # menu to those user's whose termimal ($TERM) matches the terms in the # term(s) field. The "*" keyword means all terms. If there is more # than one term, each term is separated by a comma. A term may be excluded by # preceding the term name with the '!' character. "*",vt100 is redundant. # !vt100,vt102,vt100 gives permission to users logged on both vt100 and # vt102. "*",!vt100 gives permission to users logged on all terms except for # vt100. vt102,vt100,!vt102 gives permission to users logged on vt100 only. # A term is represented by the user's $TERM environment variable. The comma # and '!' cannot be escaped by preceeding them with a '\' character. # # The schedule field indicates when the menu item can be displayed in the # user's menu. Note that the user will not be able to # later execute the menu entry if the day/time is not within the schedule. # The schedule field consists of two subfields: the day of the week and # an optional time of day. The day and time subfields are written with # no intervening spaces. The day subfield is required and is specified # using the following keywords: # "*" means the menu item can be executed and displayed on any day. # Wk means any weekday. You can also specify individual days # of the week using one or more or the keywords Su, Mo, Tu, # We, Th, Fr, and Sa. # Note that *MoWkMo is not invalid, but redundant. SuSaWk is more easily # written as "*". The optional time subfield is specified by two # 24-hour clock times separated by a dash (-). For example, 0800-1732 means # that a menu item can be executed between 8:00 in the morning and 5:32 in the # evening. This range can span 0000, thus a time subfield of 0700-0500 # means that a menu entry may be executed from 7:00 in the morning until # 5:00 in the morning on the following day. This also means any time except # from 5:01 in the morning to 6:59 in the morning. Note that this really # is interpreted as 0000-0500 and 0700-2359 on the same day. This is # important in the following example: # Wk2300-0700 # This means 0000-0700 and 2300-2359 on Monday through Friday. It does # not include 0000-0700 Saturday. If the time subfield is omitted, the # menu item may be executed at any time on the day(s) specified. # # The command field specifies which program or shell command will be # executed when the user selects the associated menu item. The user # must have permission to execute the program or all parts of the # shell command. Note that the program or all parts of the shell command # must be in the user's $PATH or full paths must be specified. Three # optional subfields may be part of the command string. The subfield # $T will be substituted by any tagged files in a file window; the # subfield $D will be substituted with the current directory; the # subfield $F will be substituted with the current file. Note that $T # and $F may cause the command to fail if there are no tagged files in the # file window ($T) or the cursor is not in the file window or there are # no files in the file window ($F). $F, $D, and $T may not be escaped. # EDITORS:Edit new file:*:*:*:*:*:vi EDITORS:Edit highlighted file:*:*:*:*:*:vi $D/$F EDITORS:Edit all tagged files:*:*:*:*:*:vi $D/$T PRINTERS:List printers:*:*:*:*:*:lpstat -p PRINTERS:List users print jobs:*:*:*:*:*:lpstat -u `who am i|cut -f1 -d" "` UTILITIES:Read News:*:*:*:*:*:rn UTILITIES:Read Mail:*:*:*:*:*:mail UTILITIES:Korn Shell:*:*:*:*:*:ksh UTILITIES:C Shell:*:*:*:*:*:csh UTILITIES:Bourne Shell:*:*:*:*:*:sh $
